My name is Lucia Pilakui. Myself, Noreen Kerinaiua and Josepha Kantilla have worked at Bima Wear since it began in 1969. We were school leavers and were taught to sew by Sister Eucharia and Bertha McKenzie (Sr. Eucharia's sister).
When we opened our new building in 1978 with a Federal Government grant delivered by Fred Chaney, I was the Bima Wear President.
I live with my ‘Bima Wear’ children and my retired sister Marita whose nickname is Celine Dion. Celine visits us every day at our workshop and sometimes she even sings!
